A STRETCH of trunk road will be closed for seven weeks for essential drainage improvements and resurfacing work.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's highways partner, Alfred McAlpine, begins the £130,000 project on the A173 Barnes Farm to Skelton road today.
A diversion route will be in place along the A174, Apple Orchard Bank and Marske bypass, and the B1269 Yearby Bank.
The work is being carried out between Barnes Farm and just west of the 30mph entry signs into Skelton.
Local residents have been sent a letter informing them that, where possible, access will be maintained at all times.
