SEVEN people have been charged by police investigating heroin dealing.

Officers arrested eight people during raids in Harrogate and Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, on Wednesday.

Six men and two women were interviewed in connection with the supply of drugs. Seven were charged with a total of 22 offences, including conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. One person was released on bail.

Drug paraphernalia and cash was also seized.

A police spokesman said the arrests were part of a crackdown on drug dealing, codenamed Operation Walnut.

The men and women will appear before magistrates next Thursday.
