MUSIC fans are preparing for a 12-day festival.

Newcastle and Gateshead will again host this year's Orange Evolution Music Festival, and organisers promise it will be bigger and better than ever.

People will be able to hear all music genres, including blues, roots, reggae and dance.

The event will start on Thursday and will end on Bank Holiday Monday, May 30, when the two quaysides will host Freevolution on three sites.

Organisers hope more than 25,000 people will gather to take part in the free event, from 1pm to 10.30pm.

The line-up includes Dizzee Rascal, The Ordinary Boys, Super Furry Animals, Mylo Live, Dogs Die in Hot Cars, The Futureheads, and The Others.

Other acts include Carbon Silicone, Fightstar, Candi Staton, Misty in Roots, American Music Club and Martin Stephenson and The Daintees.

The festival website is at www.orangeevolution.co.uk, and free programmes are available at venues throughout Newcastle and Gateshead.
