THE outgoing Mayor of Darlington said goodbye with a party last night.
Councillor Roderick Francis, whose term of office ends on Thursday, invited representatives of community groups from across the town to the event on the Firthmoor estate.
The farewell buffet at the Maidendale House community centre also saw the Mayor hand over cheques to his nominated charities for the past year - Diabetes UK and Darlington and District Alzheimer's Society.
Each charity received £9,000 and the mayor's fundraising throughout the year has raised a total of £38,000 for local good causes.
Councillor Stella Robson will be the new mayor.
