YOUNGSTERS were able to learn all about animals thanks to a SureStart half-term event.

Bob Brown, Stockton Borough Council's countryside ranger for the River Tees, gave talks to youngsters at Roseworth library about wildlife which can be found within the borough. And he took along an owl, a rabbit and a ferret to highlight his talk.

SureStart Stockton-on-Tees and the parks and countryside service have teamed up to create sessions for the whole family at libraries in the borough after last year's sessions proved to be extremely popular.

Melanie Brown, of SureStart, said: "These sessions were action-packed with activities to keep the children occupied in the holidays, and it's great to see families learning about their local environment together.

"We are hoping families will come along to these exciting sessions and also discover what services their local libraries can offer at the same time."
