A 500-MEMBER strong group is looking for answers in the hope of financing a cure for a distressing medical condition.

Over the past 17 years, the Tees Group of the National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease has raised £10,000 for medical research through running quiz nights, with another being arranged for the autumn.

Group chairwoman Norma Richardson said: "Volunteers have worked hard over the years to put on the quiz nights, and they are an excellent way of bringing people together and enjoying themselves, and raising money for medical research all at the same time.

"It would be wonderful if one day the research culminates in a cure for both of these rather unpleasant conditions."

Both colitis and Crohn's Disease are forms of inflammatory bowel disease, and affect about one in 400 people across the country.

The May quiz at Guisborough Rugby Club raised £488.

The group is hoping people will turn out in force for the next quiz night on October 20.

The cash is donated to the National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease for ongoing research into both conditions, which affect thousands of people of all ages nationwide.
