A CHARITY auction attended by North-East football legend Jack Charlton raised £3,300 on Saturday.
The former Newcastle United, Middlesbrough and Republic of Ireland manager was at the event, held at the Travaux Sports Club in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire.
He auctioned off some of the items, and bought some for himself and his family.
The money raised will be donated to the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton and ward 14 at the James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough, as well as to cancer and leukaemia research.
The event was organised after former club chairman Les Boast's wife, Jenny, lost her battle with lung cancer recently, and club member Jeff Richards' daughter, Kirsty, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
About 150 people attended the auction, which finished with a disco and karaoke.
Event organiser Chris Enright said: "The total was a lot more than we were hoping for."
