A TEENAGER has been sentenced to three months in a young offenders' institution for twice breaching his anti-social behaviour order.

Scott David Wood, of Canterbury Road, Redcar, received three months for each of the breaches, which he admitted.

He was reported for playing loud music late at night and revving his motorbike's engine while riding on pavements and grass verges.

The 18-year-old's sentence will run concurrently alongside the year in custody he is serving for assaulting a man last year.

Caroline May, prosecuting, told the hearing at Teesside Magistrates' Court yesterday that Wood played loud music between 10pm and 4am on several occasions between December last year and March this year, disturbing a neighbour who was suffering from cancer.

District Judge Stephen Earl said: "These are matters that are so serious that a custodial sentence is merited"

Last week, Wood was sentenced to 12 months custody at Teesside Crown Court for attacking a passenger when he stopped to remonstrate with him and another man after they threw a bottle at his car.

After the hearing, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council cabinet member for community safety, Councillor Joyce Benbow, said: "By putting him away, it gives people the freedom to live their lives in peace."
