A TEENAGER has been told he will never be allowed to work with vehicles, unless he is prepared to abide by the law.

Mark Kendall, 18, was given a last chance to go straight when he appeared before Harrogate magistrates yesterday, when he admitted driving while disqualified, drink-driving and not having insurance.

Kendall, of Ure Bank Top, Ripon, was told by chairman of the bench Eric Fell: ''We hear that working as a motor mechanic is the love of your life, but the only way you will achieve what you want is by changing your ways."

Making a 12-month probation supervision order with 75 hours of unpaid community work, and ordering Kendall to abide by an 8pm to 6am curfew for two months, Mr Fell warned: ''This is your last chance.''

He also imposed a three-year driving ban.

The court had heard Kendall was stopped by police driving a friend's car in Princess Road, Ripon, on May 15 and tests showed he had drunk almost twice the legal alcohol limit.

In mitigation, Geoffrey Boothby said Kendall had moved back in with his father and stepmother in an effort to make a fresh start.
