WOLVES boss Glenn Hoddle last night gave Sunderland the green light to make a fresh approach for striker Kenny Miller.

Hoddle finally broke his silence on the Scotland international's situation to admit he was already planning for a possible departure within the next two weeks.

But, while the former England manager has accepted Miller may be on his way out of Molineux this summer, he has warned the Black Cats the striker's services will not come cheaply.

Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy has already had two offers for Miller turned down as he looks to bolster a strikeforce that currently comprises just Stephen Elliott, Chris Brown and newcomer Jon Stead.

McCarthy saw a £1m bid rebuffed at the start of the month and was also unsuccessful when he upped that offer by a further £250,000 shortly after.

The Wolves board are holding out for a £2m fee as they look to gather funds for a renewed assault on the Premiership, but could be forced into a compromise agreement if the striker threatens to walk out for nothing next summer.

Hoddle will meet with Miller at the start of next week to discuss his future, after granting him an extended summer break following his participation in Scotland's two World Cup qualifiers at the end of last month.

And, while the Wolves boss is still hoping to persuade Miller to stay, he is gradually accepting that he may be forced to cut his losses.

"I've got to speak to Kenny next week,'' said Hoddle.

"There are a couple of personal issues in there as to why there might be a move.

"He's not unhappy with the way the football's gone. Let's face it, he scored 20 goals again last season.

"He's only got 12 months left on his contract, but it would be wrong to let him go cheaply."

The Wolves squad are due to fly to Spain for a pre-season training camp on Monday.

Hoddle has already confirmed that Henri Camara - another striker likely to be leaving the Black Country this summer - will not be making the trip.

But Miller will be on the plane, unless Sunderland make a third approach over the weekend.

"I've kept in touch with him throughout the summer and, at this moment in time, he's due to come out to Spain with us," revealed Hoddle. "Once he's made it to Spain, we'll take it from there.

"I'll be a very happy bunny if Kenny's still with us (at the start of the season). But, as with the Henri Camara situation, I'm very open-minded. Let's see what unfolds in the next few days."

* Pele has warned England striker Wayne Rooney he must not believe the hype surrounding himself if he wants to fulfil his potential.

He said: ''My advice is to forget about whether people say you're good or not. Be yourself, be prepared, because in the World Cup you've got to be prepared, but never, never think you're good.

''Always think you can learn, that you can get better.''
