Darlington Building Society NYSD Premier League Dividion One: Thornaby maintained their narrow lead at the top following a three-wicket victory in a low-scoring game with Seaton Carew.

The visitors laboured through 50 overs making 138 for nine which included an unbeaten 63 by Derek Morgan. Umar Rashid sent down 28 overs in the home attack, claiming four for 56, before Faz Hussain steered the leaders to victory with an undefeated 55.

Marton, with a game in hand on the leaders, are 11 points off the top and they made no mistake in their home fixture with Wolviston who were back in the pavilion after 32 overs for 93.

George Sayers was unbeaten on 41 but all the batsmen were comfortably contained by the six-man Marton attack in which Rhys Barker top-performed with four for 29 from nine overs.

The runs flowed when Marton made first use of the wicket. Chris Lane (58), Mark Foster (50), Graham Shaw (44) and Barker (36) brought a declaration after 45 overs with 226 for five on the board.

Blackhall had more than 100 runs to spare at Stokesley.

An excellent wicket suited the Colliers who romped to 245 for three. Paul Moss contributed 74 before being run out and Tony Booth ended unbeaten on 72. Stokesley were sent back for only 127 as Shoaib Akhtar again starred with the ball taking four for 50.

There was a close call for Darlington RA at home to Barnard Castle.

Replying to a target of 239 they were 136 for eight from 50 overs and were indebted to Stephen Marr whose 50 included ten boundaries. Andrew Toulson delivered 13 overs, returning three for 39 for the visitors.

When they batted first, Barnard Castle's 50 overs produced 238 for seven. Toulson struck two sixes and 12 fours in 89 and John Ashworth had a six and eight fours out of 55.

The six-man RA attack toiled and Nowell Hollis was the most successful bowler, capturing three for 46 runs.

Bedale's last pair were together at the end and nowhere in sight of Normanby Hall's 210 for six. Mahmood (73 not out) and Paul Gettings with 52 figured in a century partnership in the Hall total.

Bedale ended on 150 for nine as Shoaib took four for 25 in nine overs and Dave Brown had three for 40 from his 12 overs.

The game between Darlington and Guisborough at Feethams also ended in a draw.

Requiring 203 for victory, Darlington were 194 for seven mainly as a result of the efforts of Danny Morgans (44) and Colin Biglin, who struck ten fours in 59. Six of the seven wickets to fall were claimed by Steve Donlon for 65 runs in 21 overs.

Robbie Hornbrook (45) and Chris Trillo (44) put together a useful partnership for the second wicket and Guisborough's 50 overs produced 202 for eight.

Yarm overtook the Redcar score of 165 losing just three wickets. Ollie Flight (55), Will Wyatt (32 no) and John Wilson (31) all hit form and when Redcar batted first, Phil Andrews and Riley shared seven wickets.
