A PLAY area at a popular beauty spot has undergone an £80,000 makeover.
The play area, at Broken Scar, near Darlington, has been redeveloped by Darlington Borough Council in partnership with environmental charity Groundwork North-East.
Plans for its refurbishment were drawn up last April, after consulting residents, before work started last November.
It was officially opened yesterday by the Mayor of Darlington, Councillor Jim Ruck.
He said: “I am delighted to unveil the new signs for the site. I am sure that the play area will prove to be a hugely popular attraction at this beautiful spot.”
Funding for the scheme came from 106 planning conditions imposed on local housing developments by the council.
The play area consists of a range of equipment, with a natural theme for all ages including a trim trail and sand play area.
