A PAIR of football-mad brothers will travel to London to see the World Cup – and play in an exclusive celebrity five-a-side match – after winning a competition.

Tommy Lowther, from Staindrop, County Durham, said the Coca-Cola competition was the first thing he has ever won.

Mr Lowther, 27, has played football all of his life and now runs a coaching business, called Kickabout Kids.

He will be taking his 24- year-old brother, Ricky, to Earl’s Court, on March 11, where the pair will have their photograph taken with the World Cup before spending time watching presentations and films related to this summer’s games, held in South Africa.

The brothers, both Newcastle United fans, will then take part in a five-a-side competition featuring celebrities such as David Baddiel and Frank Skinner and former professionals including Ian Wright. There will also be an appearance from England player Wayne Rooney.

Mr Lowther said: “I have never won anything in my life, so to get a prize like this is just amazing. I’m absolutely football mad – I’m 27 but given the chance I’ll still go out and have a kickabout with my brother.

“Although I’m not going to the World Cup, to get the chance to be involved with something like this is brilliant – I can’t wait.”

Mr Lowther, a former Staindrop School pupil, started his business last year and holds after-school classes and holiday clubs.
