A CHARITY is looking for 2,010 women to take part in its annual sponsored Starlight Stroll.
Teesside Hospice is expecting places to be quickly filled and are urging would-be fundraisers to get their place booked for the event.
Last year, walkers raised more than £110,000 and organisers are hoping to beat that target when the volunteers take to the streets of Redcar, east Cleveland, on May 8. The seven-mile walk starts from Redcar and Cleveland College before heading along the sea front, into Marske and back to the college.
Hospice fundraising manager Jane O’Byrne said: “Last year’s event was amazing, it my first Starlight Stroll and the atmosphere was electric. I cannot tell you how proud I felt watching the women walking along the promenade in support of the hospice. For many this was a girls’ night out with a twist, for others, who were walking in memory of loved ones, it was a poignant moment.”
