Busy day which included attending the funeral of Darlington sporting stalwart Ken Dobinson.
Ken, who died last week aged 87, was a true gentleman. I got to know him through New Blackwell Lawn Tennis Club, where he served as president.
He also founded the Darlington and District Badminton Club in 1947, serving as president until last year, and played for Haughton Cricket Club.
All Saints Church was packed and Canon John Dobson described Ken as a man who touched countless lives.
"Sport was a gift to Ken and he was a gift to sport," he said. Lovely quote.
I'm now preparing the script for the Best of Darlington Awards, which I'm compering at Darlington College tomorrow night.
It's an opportunity to pay tribute to more great Darlington personalities.
Last year's overall winner was greengrocer Robin Blair from the covered market. He was so chuffed, he sent me a box of satsumas.
Here's hoping a travel agent or car dealer wins this year!
