REAL ale lovers are in for a treat with the return of Middlesbrough’s Beer Festival.

The event has been revived to raise funds for Teesside Hospice.

More than 1,000 people are expected to fill the Crypt, in Middlesbrough Town Hall, over the two days of The Big Beer Fest.

Festival-goers will be able to sample 40 real ales and ciders, while enjoying music from two local bands.

The Passion Killers will be playing on Friday, March 26, and The Source will be on stage the following day.

Emma Collins, fundraiser for the hospice, said: “Middlesbrough has not hosted a beer festival for nearly a decade, so it’s great to be involved in reviving the event.”

Entry on Friday is £10, and includes a limited edition beer glass, programme and beer token.

The event opens at 6.30pm and closes at 11pm.

The festival will also run on Saturday, from noon to 5pm. Entry is £5, including a beer glass and programme. Tickets are available from the town hall, on 01642-729729.
