A MAN had to be freed by firefighters after getting his hand impaled on a gatepost.
The incident happened around 7pm on Monday night in Sanderson Road, Jesmond, Newcastle.
A spokesman for Tyne and Wear fire and rescue said the man, in his 20s, was impaled on the latch part of the gate.
He was freed by firemen using cutting equipment and taken to hospital.
