X FACTOR finalist Joe McElderry played a homecoming gig at the iconic Sage Gateshead in front of adoring fans tonight.
The singer, from South Shields, performed in front of thousands of screaming fans, and was accompanied by the mentor and fellow Geordie Cheryl Cole.
The bookies favourite toured his native North-East, stopping off at his home, his former school to sing and finally performing a gig at the Sage on Gateshead Quayside.
He performed Journey power ballad 'Don't Stop Believin'.
