A GYMNASTICS club is out to prove age is no barrier by launching beginner classes for adults.

Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre, in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, will hold adult gymnastics sessions on Saturdays, from 2.30pm to 4pm.

Voluntary group Jayenelle Gymnastics Club, ran by former gymnasts Jean Stifman and Louise MacDougall, will run the classes.

The first session is free so people can see if it is something they want to join regularly and the cost is £3.50 a week thereafter.

Organisers say many people aged over 25 believe they are too old to start gymnastics but it is never too late benefit from taking part in the sport.
