READING this morning's article on Pierremont prompted John Ellerton of Cockerton to ring. The deeds of his house in Willow Road show that the first owner of it in 1928 was a Walter Fell Pease who paid £950 for it. Is there any connection between Walter and Henry Pease, the Laird of Pierremont?
There must be. Henry Pease (1807-81) married Anna Fell in 1835 and, before her death three years later, they had one child: Henry Fell Pease (1838-96). He developed the Brinkburn estate on the other side of the Cocker Beck to his father's fabulous Pierremont. I would guess that Walter Fell Pease is one of Henry Fell Pease's sons. Can anyone help?
