It's a strange, strange world sometimes.

I've been sitting at my desk, reading the accounts in this morning's papers of the heartbreaking homecoming of the eight British soldiers killed within 24 hours of each other in Afghanistan.

As well as a front page picture of the hearses, The Sun has a piece about the moving diary written by Lieutenant Mark Evison before he died while fighting the Taliban in May.

Lt Evison tells of his fears about the lack of basic equipment given to our frontline troops.

"I have a lack of radios, water, food, and medical supplies," he writes.

The back page of The Sun is devoted to Manchester City's plea to John Terry to join them for £30m - a deal which would earn the Chelsea captain £300,000 a week.

"It is not a question of money. It is about a different challenge," says Manchester City manager Mark Hughes.

Meanwhile, London Mayor Boris Johnson has reacted to questioning about how he earns £250,000 a year from a second job, writing a column for the Daily Telegraph.

"It's chicken feed," replied the Mayor.

We might all live in one world - but there are lots of worlds within it.
