FUN DAY: The village of Tholthorpe, near Easingwold, holds its annual fun day this weekend. The village green will the centre of events, with a fancy dress parade, football game and plate smashing, as well as tombola, cakes and afternoon teas. The Tholthorpe Jugglers will be making a guest appearance. The event is being held to raise money for the upkeep of the village hall. It takes place from 2pm on Saturday.

TABLE SALE: A table-top sale will be held in Stokesley town hall on Saturday, from 10am to 3pm. Stalls will include bric-a-brac, tombola, gifts and crafts. DOG SHOW: Sowerby House care home, in Thirsk, is holding a fun dog show, at Skipton on Swale airfield, from 11am to 4pm, on Saturday, July 25. JAZZ GROUP: Blue Skies and Stormy Weather, a jazz and blues trio, will be playing at The Black Swan, in Leyburn, on Saturday, from 8.30pm. The trio have a wide repertoire of songs spanning several decades including jazz, blues, show tunes and contemporary popular music. The concert will include a range of songs from the Thirties and Forties.

BAG PACK: A recent bag-pack, at Sainsbury’s, in Northallerton, raised more than £225 for The Children’s Society. Staff at the store have given their thanks to all who donated.

CHURCH SERVICE: A service of morning worship, at Northallerton United Reformed Church, in the town’s High Street, will be held at 10am, on Sunday. The service will be led by the Reverend Michael Webster.

COFFEE MORNING: Richmond Operatic Society will hold a coffee morning at the town hall, on July 23, from 8.30am to noon. Stalls include bric-a-brac, cakes, tombola and a raffle. Admission 60p and includes tea and biscuits. For more information, call 01748-832092.

DOMINO DRIVE: There will be a domino drive, on July 23, at 7.30pm, in Leeming Village Hall. Admission costs £1.50, with supper at the interval. Proceeds for St John's Church.

CHARITY AUCTION: Leeming Under Fives had a charity auction at the White Rose Hotel, in Leeming Bar, recently, which raised a total of £352.50. It will be used to continue to improve the quality of provision at the pre-school playgroup. Many thanks to those organisations that supported the event with donations. The hotel also recently held an eventful ‘graduation’ ceremony for the ten children who will be moving up to school in September. ART SHOW: An art exhibition will be held in Bedale Railway Station, on July 25 and 26, between 10.30am and 4pm on both days. Admission is free. Refreshments will be available and a raffle will be held.

SOCIETY EVENTS: The Bedale archaeology and history society will meet at 7.30pm, on Tuesday, August 4, in Bedale Hall, when Andrew Birley will give a talk on Vindolanda. The group is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, with a talk from its president, Percival Turnbull, entitled 40 Years of Old Rubbish - memories and anecdotes of archaeology. The event will be held at 7.30pm, on September 1, in Bedale Hall.
