A GROUP of schoolchildren got an unexpected boost during preparations for their end-of-term show - an email of support from one of the musicians that inspired it.
Children at the Applegarth Primary School, in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, have been rehearsing and performing a version of the musical We Will Rock You, based on the music of the rock band Queen.
The youngsters received an email from former Queen lead guitarist Brian May, who wished them well.
More than 100 young people, aged between eight and 11, have taken part in the show.
Headteacher Alison Goodwin said: "The aim of the production it to enrich the curriculum.
"The children have done a lot of work in history this year.
"We thought it would be a good idea to end the year with a really up-to-the-minute performance.
"We Will Rock You is modern, but also tells the audience something about the history of the music.
"The children have really enjoyed rehearsing and they have done really well."
