I received an e-mail from Mark Kipling earlier this week outlining a fantastic idea to help put the club on the map. Mark lives in Barnard Castle now, but is a genuine Cockfield lad who is proud of his roots. The easiest way to explain his idea is to paste his e-mail onto this site; here it is…

Hi Nigel, I've decided to take some more interest in this Cockfield club soap opera that's currently going on, would be a very sad day for Cockfield if it really did ever close.

Basically I've just registered " www.cockfieldclub.co.uk " its work in progress but I'll hammer out a website as quick as I can - I had a idea for people all around the world to donate using Paypal towards the finance costs etc..

Basically I'm after 2 things - 1st is a Paypal account to funnel all the donations directly off the website, if anyone on the club committee has one that would be a good start, if not I'll set one up and supply all payment records so every penny is accounted for.

Another awesome thing I thought about, would be really old photographs of cockfield club, people having a good time and stuff, the more the better - so if you got chance to shout out on the blog that would be fantastic, they can take them to my mothers and I'll scan them in and return them - hopefully this will keep people coming back to the site and click onto the donations and advertisements that I'll paste all over the site.

The site will feature a forum for people to get the information out and give new idea's, also thought about having a online shop for general Cockfield club goodies, Mugs, T Shirts, photographs, but that's a plan further in - I can create the shopping cart, not a problem, but having the items sent out (from storage) might need some more people to donate time.

Worth a try like, if we need to get close to the 70 grand, hopefully something like this might help, must be a lot of people living around the world (ex-pats) that would love to help but are not able too.

Mark.

I have visited the site and think it’s absolutely BRILLIANT!

I would urge you all to do the same.

WELL DONE Mark, I hope it’s a huge success.
