TRAFFIC was backed up on the A19 in North Yorkshire after a serious traffic accident this morning.
The four-car collision happened within the last hour on the section of road south of Thirsk.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said: "We have had a serious road traffic collision on the A19 just south of Thirsk.
"We are not yet in position to confirm how seriously injured the people involved in the incident are."
