TWO new breakfast clubs are sending youngsters off to school with a spring in their step.
Youngsters in Thirsk and Northallerton can now spend an hour once a week learning how to trampoline before sitting down to lessons.
Two free clubs have been set up by Hambleton District Council, supported by Thirsk Area School Sports Partnership and funded through the Sport Unlimited project which aims to make sport accessible to everyone.
The council has been allocated £2,854 from central government to target five to 19-year-olds who already take part in three sports activities a week – it wants to see that increased to five sessions.
The trampolining sessions are taking place on Wednesdays at Thirsk School and on Tuesdays at Hambleton Leisure Centre in Northallerton.
Starting at 7.45am the sessions include an hour bouncing followed by breakfast.
"An early start isn't for everyone, but for those who take part it’s certainly putting a spring into their step for the rest of the day," said coach Jemma Donne For more information on the clubs contact Myles Strudwick on 01677-427272.
