POLICE tonight issued an urgent appeal for help in tracing an elderly man suffering from dementia who has gone missing.

North Yorkshire Police say Joseph Brennan, 83, of Fieldstead Crescent, Scarborough, was last seen by his partner at 2pm when he walked off from his home in the direction of Scalby Road.

When he failed to arrive home his partner raised the alarm.

Mr Brennan is described as very vulnerable due to a number of serious medical conditions and an advanced state of dementia.

He struggles to talk, cannot always remember his own name and appears very confused. It is believed he left home with a small amount of money.

He is described as white, with short grey hair and is 5ft 7in tall. He was wearing a dark-green fleece jacket, a red shirt and brown checked trousers.

If anyone has seen Mr Brennan or has any information that can help the missing from home inquiry, please contact the North Yorkshire Police control room on 0845 60 60 24 7 and leave a message for the attention of Scarborough police.
