THE brother of Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole is to face a trial accused of pepper spraying a man in the face.

Andrew Tweedy allegedly sprayed it at Lee Clark on August 13 last year.

At Newcastle Crown Court Tweedy, 28, pleaded not guilty to actual bodily harm and possession of a noxious substance.

Tweedy, dressed in jeans, a whitejacket and blue polo shirt, spoke only to confirm his name.

He was granted bail with the condition he lives at Heaton, Newcastle.

His trial, which is expected to last two days, will take place at the same court during the week of March 16.

Judge Beatrice Bolton told Tweedy: "I am going to adjourn your case for trial the week of the 16th of March."

Tweedy's sister, Cheryl, the wife of England and Chelsea footballer Ashley Cole is said to be 'crippled with worry' about her older brother.
