POLICE are investigating an allegation of a sexual assault on a young female which occurred close to a public footpath.
The attack happened at 8.30pm last Friday when the girl was walking along the well used black path public footpath in Eston, near Middlesbrough.
The path runs from Normanby Road to Church Lane, Eston and along the edge of the Eston Leisure Centre/Football Academy sports fields.
Detective Constable John May would like to hear from anyone who saw the young girl accompanied by a youth on a pedal cycle.
A 16 year old local youth has been arrested in relation to the incident and released on Police bail.
