A YOUNG swimmer has smashed three long-standing records while competing for her local team.
Ruth Marley, eight, from West Tanfield, close to Ripon, is a member of the Thirsk White Horse Swim Team.
She recently took part in the Club Championships at Thirsk Swimming Pool where she broke the records.
She knocked two seconds off both the 25 metres freestyle and 25 metres butterfly Club Championship records.
Her freestyle time was just one hundredth of a second away from being the all-time club record for a the 25metres eight years age group.
The youngster also knocked seen seconds off the Thirsk White Horse Swim Team’s 100 metre individual medley best time.
Coach Sue Chamberlain said: "Ruth puts a lot into her swimming and the effort she is putting in is really paying off."
