The leaflets are dropping through your doors now, the official opening of Abbeyfield Esk Moors Lodge at Castleton.

11 years in the making and privately funded, Esk Moors Lodge offers 1 and 2 bedroom apartments for older residents with the bonus of a 24 hour care warden. Manager Mrs Alex Miller emphasises that the Lodge is there to encourage and promote independent living for local people with the safety net of a Care Warden.

When given a private tour of the apartments the attention to detail and refinement for relaxed living is noteworthy.

Each apartment is fully decorated and carpeted, boasting fully fitted kitchens and bath/shower rooms.

The refinements are shown in the provision of loop sky satellite connections, telephone connections and smoke alarms. 12 apartments are available and are attracting considerable attention already.

Esk Moors Lodge backs the apartments' residents with a wealth of discreet "back room" support and entertainment. The promotion of independent living is ever foremost with the provision of assisted bathing, hairdressing and beauticians as well as an assisted laundry room. All of the extra services are available on request rather than being "pushed" onto residents who do not wish to have the extra attention.

The Lodge is proactive in ensuring that the residents remain within the community and that the community becomes part of Esk Moor Lodge. So much so that the Lodge has opened its attractions and services to the surrounding community. Techno gym, flower arranging, and pottery painting courses. To appeal to the armchair socialiser, the Centre is to provide "Film and Soup" evenings.

A sneak preview before Christmas attracted over 200 people! To be a part of Esk Moors Lodge, do not miss the January 23rd open day.
