Victorian England came to Bishop Auckland on Sunday afternoon as the town enjoyed a Dickensian market.

Volunteers from the town centre forum donned nineteenth century costume and organised a selection of stores and events to bring a real feeling to Christmas to the town centre.

Father Christmas was in attendaence of course, along with Ferryhill Brass Brand, The Tearaways from Shildon, a of team of sled dogs, Punch and Judy and a variety of market stalls.

Shaun York, part of the event management team manned the hog roast dishing out free pork sandwiches all day.

Auckland Castle event manager Kim Fryer was delighted with the steady flow of people throughout the day, 'it is something different and everyone seems to have had a good time.'
