When Joe Kinnear launched his foul-mouthed rant at the local press The Northern Echo, unlike some national newspapers, decided not to print his comments in full.

Following Saturday's 2-2 home draw with Stoke, Kinnear passed on his post-match interview duties to Chris Hughton. Here are the former Spurs defender's comments:

"We tend to look at each games on its merit and we looked at last two draws away from home as two very good results. We looked on today as a bad result.

Central midfield is an area that we do need to strengthen. I think Geremi did well in there first half but apart from him, who can also play wide, we have Nicky Butt, Danny Guthrie and Joey Barton.

Today in the second half we had three of the three out.

"In this league there are certainly no routine victories and that's why, sometimes, you feel you need to go and get the extra player. Yes, we were in the driving seat, they're first goal brought them on and Ricardo Fuller, a very good and exciting player, made a difference."

"At 2-1 it was about us not conceding the game and could we also get back to where we were first half and score a third goal. We haven't lost the game and we know we are capable of going to Portsmouth and getting some type of result.

Certainly at this moment there are no positives though."

"We're very disappointed, the anger and frustration of not getting three points affects everyone. But that's what you want. You've got a changing room that is bitterly disappointed we haven't got the win."

"I don't think it's so much about confidence within the team but when they (Stoke) got the goal, it gave them a lift, they were the team in the ascendancy. When that happens you can try to things, to try and stop them or get back to where you were before and the football you were playing. We got caught a little bit between the two."

"The only thing I really will say is that it's a very emotional game. Emotions run high and I think we all have to accept that at times. These are things that are very much in the heat of the game.

"I haven't discussed it with Joe. Sometimes when you come to changing room in situations like this and you are bitterly disappointed, sometimes you don't have to say too much, the players know themselves. They're very aware, very angry and very disappointed."

"I would put us in the same group as seven or eight teams at the moment, striving. We're not doing it because we're not winning enough games. But there is a confidence we can get the two or three wins on the bounce which will take us away from the bottom."

"I haven't heard (Joe's) comments, sometimes decisions go against you."
