CHRISTMAS CONCERT: The Northallerton Silver Band will stage its Christmas concert, at 7.30pm, on Wednesday, in Hambleton Forum, Northallerton. The Highside singers will be joining the band for the evening, along with local singer Amy Almond, from Thirsk. NEW NUMBER: Footballers from Northallerton Town FC teamed up with North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust to raise awareness of a new free phone telephone number for its patient advice service. Health bosses asked the team to help promote the changed phone number - 0800-0688-000 - as it has 11 digits.

TOWN COUNCIL: The next meeting of Bedale Town Council takes place tomorrow, at 7.30pm, in Bedale Hall. At the meeting, members will discuss the town council’s budget for the coming year. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

LOCAL HERO: Gillian Fowlie, who works at Sainsbury’s, in Northallerton, has been named one of the supermarket chain’s Local Heroes, for her work with the Bedale Community Minibus. The project provides transport for elderly and disabled people.

LADIES’ NIGHT: The next meeting of the Kirkbymoorside Ladies Fellowship will take place on Wednesday, at 7.30pm, at the Manor Close Centre. The event will be a joint meeting with the All Saints’ Mothers Union. A Christmas supper will be provided by the visitors.

COFFEE MORNING: A Christmas coffee morning will be held in the Memorial Dugout, Kirkbymoorside, between 10am and 2pm, on Wednesday. For £1, visitors will get a mince pie and a cup of tea. A raffle will be held, with proceeds to Kirkbymoorside in Bloom.

DOMINO NIGHT: Thirsk Athletic Bowls Club will hold a domino evening on Tuesday, December 16, from 7.30pm. Entry costs £2, including supper.

STUDY DONE: A class of 16 former pupils from Bedale High School have completed 36 hours of study, to complete a certificate in community sports leadership. The nationally-recognised course had been running since early September. The award teaches candidates the knowledge and skills necessary to lead activities with young people.
