A SCHOOL is taking a fresh look at the traditional nativity story.
Youngsters from The Chorister School, in Durham, are performing a play called Mary’s Knitting, which begins with Mary knitting a blanket while excitedly awaiting the birth of her son.
But things go wrong when Mary and Joseph are told they must travel to Bethlehem and the blanket is accidentally left behind. Audiences are left wondering whether the baby will get the blanket after all.
The production features children from the school’s preprep department and nursery.
Several performances are being held this week. During one, tomorrow, for parents, a collection will be made on behalf of the Deaf Children’s Society.
