A SCHOOL is taking a fresh look at the traditional Nativity story.
Youngsters from The Chorister School, in Durham, are performing a play titled Mary’s Knitting.
The production begins with Mary knitting a blanket, while excitedly awaiting the birth of her son.
But things go wrong when Mary and Joseph are told they must travel to Bethlehem and the blanket is accidentally left behind.
With more problems to come, audiences are left wondering whether the baby will get the blanket after all.
The production features children from the school’s pre-prep department and new nursery.
Several performances are being held during this week. A retiring collection from a performance to parents planned for Thursday, December 4, will benefit the Deaf Children’s Society.
