COUNCIL house managers have joined forces with an action group to draw up an action plan for improving a Crook estate.

Dale and Valley Homes and the Watergate Action Group, in Crook, are creating a local compact which is a document drawn up by, residents and local agencies setting out problems and ways to tackle them.

They have already carried out a survey and organised an open day to collect residents’ views.

People said that they wanted to include other groups such as landlords, street wardens, police, tenancy enforcement officers, Durham County Council, Crook Community Partnership, Neighbourhood Watch and Residents have decided the following groups need to be involved: Street Wardens, police, Tenancy Enforcement Team, Durham County Council, Crook Community Partnership and Neighbourhood Watch.

Clair Bell, customer involvement manager with the company, said: "This is the first local compact to be undertaken by Dale and Valley Homes.

"I feel positive this will prove to be a success with increased partnership working to tackle local issues and make Watergate Estate a neighbourhood that our customers want to live in.

"If the local compact proves to have an impact for Watergate Estate then we will develop them across all of our estates.''

The compact should be distributed by next March when copies will also be available from Dale and Valley Homes reception.
