ON TV’s Coronation Street she’s a bad girl with a chequered past - but that doesn’t seem to matter for the men of North Yorkshire.

For Becky Grainger, as played by actress Katherine Kelly, is their perfect woman, according to a new survey.

Lesley Brewer, who runs the Introduction Company in Brawby near Malton, questioned over 100 men aged 30 to 65 from all over North Yorkshire about their ideal woman.

And around half opted for TV’s Becky because of her quirky nature and outgoing personality. The men also said that the character had their ideal looks, figure and spontaneity.

"I was very surprised," said Lesley.

"Becky is the complete opposite of many of them who are managing directors, business owners and financial workers.

"However fun, flirtatiousness and quirkiness are three top priorities according to my findings and Becky no doubt has all of those traits."

Eighty per cent of the men said that they didn’t like a woman to be taller than them and placed a lot more importance on looks than the women who Lesley surveyed earlier this year.

Three-quarters said a well-dressed, attractive woman was important whereas only 55 per cent of the women placed a lot of emphasis on a man’s looks - although 99 per cent said new or polished shoes were vital and bald was better than a comb-over when it came to hair.
