SEVEN young people from Bishop Auckland and Barnard Castle saw their hard work pay off after being presented with Princes Trust awards.

The 16 to 25-year-olds - Steven Bowditch, Joanne Martin, Sophie Garrett, Louise Ferris, Chris Horn, John Sedgwick and Mark Nimmo - successfully completed the twelve-week Team Programme.

They received their certificates during an awards ceremony at St Andrew’s Church in South Church, Bishop Auckland where they completed the course’s community project element by sprucing up the grounds.

Participant Chris Horn, from Bishop Auckland, said: "The course has changed the way I look at life, and given me more options.

"I would suggest it to anyone who does not know what they want to do, I’ve really enjoyed it."

Team leader Jo Hull, who has worked alongside the young people over the last twelve weeks, added: "I’m immensely proud of them, and I hope they can use what they have taken from the course in the future."
