A man has been remanded in custody after denying a charge of making threats to kill.
Joshua Goodwin also faces charges of intentional strangulation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage.
Teesside Crown Court heard the alleged offences were committed on August 30.
Goodwin, 26, of Surrey Crescent, Consett, pleaded not guilty to all four charges and was remanded in custody.

Judge Stephen Ashurst said: “The purpose of today’s short hearing was for you to enter your pleas and directions to be given for trial.
“You have been advised about the advantages of entering a guilty plea.”
Goodwin will stand trial at Durham Crown Court on February 2 next year.
