A public footpath near Darlington is set to close for up to three months while drainage infrastructure is installed.

The closure impacts Low Coniscliffe Footpath 9, from a point roughly 305 metres east of its junction with Low Coniscliffe Bridleway 4, stretching eastwards for around 180 metres.

An alternative route will be signed on site to accommodate pedestrians.

The work, authorised by Darlington Council, aims to construct an outfall from a Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) pond.

According to the council, the footpath closed from September 24, with an expected reopening on December 24.
