This is how a long-running feud between two men ended up with one trying to run the other over in the street, before his rival ploughed a stolen tractor into his home in retaliation.
The bad blood between Nathan Blagg and Luke Lancaster erupted after Lancaster posted a video of himself urinating on the gravestones of Blagg’s father and brother.
Lancaster shared the video on social media using a fake profile in the name of Blagg’s father, Stephen, Teesside Crown Court heard.
A judge called the desecration “disgusting behaviour” as he sentenced Blagg for retaliating.
The date of the vile video was unclear, but the feud’s flashpoint came on April 21 when Lancaster tried to run over Blagg in his Audi after spotting him in the street.
Lancaster narrowly missed Blagg, who leapt on to the bonnet as the Audi mounted the kerb on Borough Road, Middlesbrough.
Blagg confronted Lancaster before smashing the driver’s-side window of his car.
Lancaster was captured on CCTV waving a knife towards Blagg before he left the scene.
His barrister, Rod Hunt, said the April 21 incident had been the final straw for Blagg.
“The expression ‘revenge is a dish best served cold’ does not apply to Mr Blagg’s thinking,” he said.
“He knew the property was unoccupied but he didn’t give a thought to the people who were living in the adjoining properties and that’s the recklessness he fully confesses.”
Blagg was arrested on May 14 after the stolen Jaguar he was driving crashed into a lamppost on Riverside Road, Middlesbrough.
His seized phone placed him at the farm and provided evidence of other offences, including an affray on Borough Road, Middlesbrough.
Blagg, of Addington Road, Middlesbrough, admitted charges arising from three incidents.
The 28-year-old admitted affray and motoring offences over the April 21 incident.
Blagg admitted criminal damage, recklessly endangering life and aggravated vehicle taking over the May 9 attack.
He also admitted aggravated vehicle taking, possessing a Class C drug and motoring offences arising from the May 14 incident.
Recorder Paul Reid jailed Blagg for seven years and two months, followed by two years on extended licence.

Sentencing him for the tractor ramming, the judge said: “You were reckless as the whether anyone could have been injured and that includes anyone who might have been in the house but also people next door who could have been severely injured.”
Blagg was also banned from driving for seven years.
In July, Lancaster, of Oakhill, Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, was jailed for 46 months for attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, possessing a knife and dangerous driving.
