Bus passengers are in for a number of timetable changes across Darlington and Stockton.
Arriva will introduce timetable changes and route improvements on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
The changes aim to improve links between communities in Darlington and Stockton.
A review backed by the Tees Valley Combined Authority has shaped changes designed to give passengers better links and more travel options.
The weekday 6.13am bus from Faverdale Grange to Tow Law will now leave Westgate Crescent at 6.12am.
The Monday-to-Saturday bus from Tindale Crescent to Crook will leave at 10.37pm—five minutes earlier—and arrive at 11.02pm.
This new schedule will provide customers with a convenient connection onto the 11.05pm X46 towards Durham.
There will also be minor changes to weekday early-morning and mid-afternoon services.
The afternoon school bus from Hummersknott will leave at 3.09pm, better matching finishing times and making the journey home easier for pupils.
Weekday peak-time services will be revised to better suit passengers.
An extra morning bus to New College in Durham will give students another travel option.
The 11.30pm bus from Durham will also run to Aycliffe Village, improving late-evening links.
The 2.52pm bus from Spennymoor will leave at 2.57pm and run five minutes later throughout.
Service 10 will be revised to focus on journeys between Darlington and Whinfield.
New services 86/87 will link Sadberge, Bishopton and Stillington with Stockton.
Revised Service 18 will replace Service 16, creating a cross-town route with better links across Darlington.
Backed by the Tees Valley Combined Authority and Darlington Council, Service 17 will extend to Darlington Arena via Neasham Road and Geneva Crescent.
The extension will link Mowden directly with Darlington Rail Station and improve access to Darlington Arena.
A new Sunday daytime service and Monday-to-Saturday evening buses will run between Darlington Arena, the town centre and Mowden as Service 18A.
Service 18 will also extend to West Park Hospital and Faverdale via Abbey Road, Hummersknott, Mowden and Cockerton.
The service will link passengers with Queen Elizabeth College, Darlington Rail Station, Cockerton Village, Faverdale’s retail and industrial areas and West Park Hospital.
A Sunday daytime service and Monday-to-Saturday evening journeys will run between Darlington town centre and West Park and Faverdale as Service 18A.
Service 18A will run on Monday to Saturday evenings, linking Darlington Arena, the town centre, Mowden, West Park and Faverdale.
Revised Service 19 will provide a more direct route into Faverdale and will no longer serve John Fowler Way.
One bus an hour will terminate at Aldi Warehouse.
A further hourly bus, backed by the Tees Valley Combined Authority, will continue to Newton Aycliffe town centre via High Grange, West Park Hospital, Heighington, School Aycliffe and Newton Aycliffe Rail Halt.
The changes will link these communities with Faverdale’s retail and industrial areas, Darlington Memorial Hospital and Queen Elizabeth College.

Arriva is also introducing new Services 86/87, backed by the Tees Valley Combined Authority, to link Darlington, communities around Stillington and Stockton.
Evening and Sunday buses from Darlington will run five minutes later, giving passengers more flexibility.
The changes will bring new services, extended routes and better links across Darlington, Stockton and nearby communities.
