A popular pub and restaurant in Middlesbrough is starting a new chapter after changing hands and beginning preparations for a major refurbishment.
The Poverina in Normanby officially changed hands on Wednesday (September 9), with a new management team taking over after the previous operators announced they were moving on as the business heads in a "different direction".
In a farewell message, business partners Kel Allen and Behnam Azadi said the pub had stopped serving food but would remain open ahead of the "grandstand" refurbishment.
The handover ends Kel and Ben's successful run at the venue as they prepare to open Seafront Kitchen in Saltburn later this month.
They said: "The Poverina is moving in a different direction and for us it just feels like the right time to move on.
"We've absolutely loved our time at The Poverina and can't thank everyone enough for the support we've had.
"We've met some amazing people, made some great memories and we're really proud of what we've achieved there."

The new management team is preparing to turn the venue into a sports bar.
In their farewell message, Kel and Ben wished the incoming management team every success as they take The Poverina into its next chapter.
The pair will launch Seafront Kitchen at Saltburn House on Sunday, September 20, with locals already looking forward to the opening.
