The Red Arrows have cancelled an air display appearance days before they are due to perform their iconic Great North Run flyover.
The display team was due to peform at the Guernsey Air Display around 6.30pm this evening (Wednesday, September 9) but reportedly cancelled due to aircraft and engineering problems.
The RAF Events Team said: "The team are facing issues with aircraft and engineering resource, which has meant they cannot produce the jets for Wednesday or deploy overnight away from Waddington anymore."
"I know this will be a great disappointment to you and the people of Guernsey, especially at late notice and following the cancellation of BBMF Dakota due to serviceability."
According to The Guernsey Press the team has also cancelled an appearance at Sanicole, a large display in Belgium that was expected to take place on the same day as the Great North Run.
The Red Arrows' flyover of the Tyne Bridge marks one of the most memorable moments of the Great North Run.
The Northern Echo has contacted the Ministry of Defence for comment.
