Fans of Emmerdale have shared their excitement after soap star Lewis Cope teased details for Channel 5's latest crime drama.
The Hartlepool-born actor - known more recently for his role in Emmerdale and the last season of Strictly Come Dancing - will appear in Forever Home, a six-part Channel 5 drama adapted from Graham Norton’s bestselling novel.
Although the original story is set in Ireland, the series adaptation has been relocated to Northumberland, a detail Mr Cope said made the project feel even more special.
Mr Cope said: "Obviously, the original was set in Cork, wasn’t it?
"And then the adaptation was set in Northumberland.
"And being from the North East, it was great to be back there and filming, and hopefully there’s a lot more stuff getting made in the North East, too."
He said the show’s tension will keep viewers hooked until the very end.
Fans have been quick to share their excitement on social media.
One viewer wrote: "The countdown is on", as Lewis replied: "Get the popcorn ready."
Another fan commented: "Can’t wait looks good" while another said they are "definitely going to watch this."
The series follows Carol Crottie, played by Downton Abbey's Amy Nuttall, who discovers a long-dead body in the basement of her home and begins to suspect her partner may be a killer.
The cast also includes Shetland's Douglas Henshall as Robert Barrie, Mr Cope as Kaden, former Loose Women star Denise Welch, Happy Valley's Shane Zaza, Inspector Morse star Kevin Whately, and Heartstopper's Jenny Walser as Sally.
Mr Cope said: "As you go through and watch the different episodes, every single one changes your mind about, first of all, who is the person in the freezer, and secondly, who did it.
"It really does keep you guessing with every episode.
"And I think you’ll really, really want to see the next one because it feels so real.
"It could be one of those documentaries because it feels that real, and you just want to find out what happens.
He added: "It keeps you guessing right until the last five or 10 minutes of episode six, really, and even then, I think it’s a big surprise.
"So, I think it will hopefully really grip people."
Ms Nuttall described the show as a mix of comedy, drama, and suspense.
She said: "The scripts have such a broad mix of genres.
"There’s comedy, it’s incredibly moving, but at the same time, it’s gripping and suspenseful."

Ms Walser, who plays Sally, said the blend of tones sets the show apart.
She said: "It was kind of interesting because some days you’d be doing a scene and it would be out-and-out funny, and then it’s mixed with this darkness as well and this real, gutsy reality."
Forever Home airs on Channel 5 on Monday, September 14.
