Peter Rabbit sculptures from a North East trail will go under the hammer this autumn, with 40 pieces heading to auction.
The sculptures form part of a public art trail in Newcastle and North Tyneside and will be sold to raise vital funds for St Oswald’s Hospice.
The Peter Rabbit: Tales on the Tyne trail, which began in July, features 96 sculptures of Beatrix Potter’s beloved character.
It marks both the hospice’s 40th anniversary and the 160th anniversary of Beatrix Potter’s birth.
Steph Edusei, chief executive of St Oswald’s Hospice, said: "Not only are these sculptures beautiful and thought-provoking but, through the auction, they will help us provide our care and support free of charge to those who need it most.
"We urge anyone who has enjoyed the trail, who is a Beatrix Potter fan, a fan of the North East or simply wants to help us, to place a bid – so we can be here for them if they ever need us."
The nine-week trail will conclude on September 14, followed by a final celebration weekend from October 10 to 11, where all the sculptures will be displayed together before the auction.
The auction itself will take place on October 13 at Newcastle Civic Centre.
Among the 40 lots are both large and medium-sized sculptures, including some not featured on the public trail.
A Snowdog sculpture, in tribute to the hospice’s 2016 Great North Snowdogs event, and one of two special book bench-themed sculptures will also be available.
Each sculpture has been uniquely decorated by artists from the North East and beyond.

Auction highlights are expected to include Peter in the Garden by Emma Bridgewater Ltd, featuring the artist’s signature spongeware style and depicting Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail, and Peter amid geraniums and radishes.
Ruby Rabbit by Natalie Radcliffe, created to mark 40 years of care at St Oswald’s Hospice, has also captured public attention, along with Bunny Bank, which is covered in real coins.
The trail is produced in partnership with Wild in Art, The World of Peter Rabbit™, and supported by Newcastle City Council, North Tyneside Council, Northumbrian Water, and North Standard.
