County Durham actor Charlotte Riley has officially joined the cast of Apple TV+ hit Ted Lasso, with viewers already speculating that her character could play a key role in Ted’s future.
The 44-year-old actress, who was born in Grindon, near Stockton, made her debut in the latest season of the award-winning comedy alongside Jason Sudeikis.
Riley appears as a theatre stage manager who meets Ted backstage following a performance of a one-woman show staged by Jane Payne, the former partner of Coach Beard.
Although the character is not named on screen, the encounter immediately caught the attention of fans, with many suggesting it could mark the beginning of a new romantic storyline for the AFC Richmond boss.
