If you are looking for an afternoon tea that is a bit different from your usual traditional tearoom, you might want to take a trip out to Bellingham.
At the Heritage Centre there, you will find a cosy café found in an old Mark 3 HST train carriage.
The old train carriage used to run on the East Midlands main line but now has been repurposed into a tearoom.
What is Tea on the Train like?
Tea on the Train offers an adults and children’s afternoon tea that comes with sandwiches, scones with jam and cream or cheese, a slice of traybake, and a pot of tea or coffee.
There are plenty of other lunch options as well, from toasties and paninis to a soup of the day.
Many of the cakes and scones are homemade, with lots of the other products being sourced from the local area.
You can top your meal off with a hot coffee or soft drink.
The carriage offers you first-class comfort while enjoying your meal with tables of four and two.
If you would rather sit outside, there are a few tables in the outdoor covered seating area.

“The seats are remarkably comfortable, tables for 4 down one side of the aisle and tables for 2 down the other with outdoor seating for the better weather days.
“The staff were friendly and efficient.
“We had a nice pot of tea served in china cups and we shared a sandwich.
“We are always happy when a shared sandwich is delivered on separate plates with a generous garnish on each.
