A mystery Hartlepool millionaire could still be unaware they have won £1m on the National Lottery, with just one week remaining to claim the life-changing prize.
National Lottery operator Allwyn is urging players across the town to check old tickets after a winning EuroMillions Millionaire Maker prize from March remains unclaimed.
The winning ticket was bought in the Hartlepool authority area for the EuroMillions draw on March 13, 2026, and matched the Millionaire Maker code JLZG97793.
The lucky ticketholder has until midnight on September 9, 2026, to come forward and claim the £1m jackpot.
The draw was particularly notable as it created 13 new millionaires across the UK.
Allwyn says there have been cases in the past where winning ticketholders have only discovered their success shortly before the deadline and is hoping the Hartlepool player will do the same.
Andy Carter, senior winners adviser at Allwyn, said: “We’re still hopeful we’ll find the lucky winner and reunite them with this incredible £1 million prize.
“We’re encouraging everyone who may have played to check their tickets and hope to be celebrating with a new millionaire from Hartlepool soon.”
Lottery players are being asked to search wallets, bags, coat pockets, drawers and any other places where old tickets may have been stored.
If the Hartlepool price remains unclaimed after the deadline, the £1m will be redirected to National-Lottery-funded projects across the UK, along with any interest generated.
The National Lottery says players raise around £33m for good causes every week, with more than £53 billion having been generated for community projects, sport, arts, and heritage initiatives since its launch.
